Wow! I have the same problem in the rear and my dealer said $125 parts and 7 hours of labor @ $85/hr. Rear more expensive? I originally had this problem and they misdiagnosed as a blown strut and cost me $1,400 to fix. I had to buy my own struts because TRD dicontinued mine. A couple of months later the rattle was back exactly the same and this time they say it's a mount and I'd have to cough up more money. ARGHHHHH! FYI I now have two TRD struts that I believe I perfectly fine. Anyone want to buy?

I have a E! True Struts Mounts story...

I just got my Solara a month ago (70K). I didn't get the extended warranty and I doubt this would be covered; it IS a wear item. Man, it creaks BAD, esp. over bumps. It sounds like the whole frame is gonna fall off. I figured it was bushings in the suspension. That's really what it is. Hondas do it, too (not mounts, but bushings). Sounds worse than it is. SO I told the service guy he could prolly tell what it is just by driving in the lot. He didn't even do that. He could tell on their PAINTED shop floor which is like glass. VERY worst case is they would fail and the strut comes through the hood and dents it. He says $400 installed since BOTH sides are bad. He said the right side fails more than the left on the Camry. Damn. I knew since I read this thread that's what it was. Yay!!
I go to the parts counter and dude says they're like $80 a side. For some ghey reason, it's like $79 and $81. He says that he has them in stock (only one set) and he'd show them to me. He brings them out and I look at them. Neato. Then, he's like "I can do better. How about $67 per side?" I have never been here before (except for a key to be cut), so I figured I'd establish a "relationship" for the future and just get them. Yes, I coulda gotten them a little cheaper online, but not too much cuz I'd prolly be $15 for shipping. I got 'em and the service mgr. told me the rubber is designed better so they shouldn't fail again.
Memo to all owners: Yours will fail, too. I don't know how you could maintain them not to. Toyota knows this. I'll get mine installed elsewhere since they still wanted $400 for all of it. I guess you could get a used set at a yard, but $130 for both sides isn't crazy ridiculous. Ridicuolus, yes. But dealers are always $$$$ on parts.

This problem would be covered under waranty since it is a TSB.

Factory warranty, most definitely. I dunno about an extended warranty though. They define "wear part" very broadly on those. I'm still coming out ahead because an extended warranty on my car would prolly run $1500. I'll be out about $250 tops for this issue. Is every TSB covered under a warranty? That would be sweet!!! Hurry up recall...
