nah, this is a totally different problem. i mentioned about the window hitting the plastic molding, too when this problem was first presented back in 1982 by Missay.
we resolved that issue by blaming it on our frameless doors and that we were SOL when it came to the window and plastic molding.
THESE guys are having a problem with their actual door and its hinge. thank god i never had to deal with that

I took a better look at it the other day and I think that the window hits the molding at a bad angle. I close my door from the outside by swinging the top corner of the door sheet metal instead of using the window to swing the door shut. I think that this swinging motion has tilted the door slightly at an angle towards the car (I hope you guys get what I mean). My door is neither too high nor too low (horizontally). I think that the door might not be vertically straight with the car. Hence, the glass hits the molding too soon, which then prevents the door from closing properly. This is my theory so far. I'd be interested in hearing anyone else's ideas.
