haha... thats the weak sauce method.

the old school way. if you are running rich and no cats along with a straight pipe, fire ball can happen if you mash on the gas on a hot exhaust pipe.

im pretty sure it happens to me, but for sure my buddy in his STi.

They refer to the mixture of fuel and air in your combustion chamber. If the mixture has too much air, it is considered lean. If it has too much fuel, it is rich. Too lean, and you can blow up your engine. Too rich, and you'll waste gas and clog up the catalytic converter. It doesn't have anything to do with octane.
