Stock talk about the Generation 1 and 1.5 Toyota Solara which were produced from 1999 to 2003.

I know you mentioned that you were going to replace the grille ...

One thing I believe some members have done is swap the Gen 1.5 front bumper and headlights for the Gen1. Don't change the tail lights though, IMO the 1.5 tails do not look as good as the Gen1.

Just thought I'd put that in your head before you go searching for the TRD kit for the Gen1.

good point, i havent researched enough to know the difference yet. I may stick with the gen 1 for convenience though, bumper swaps can be a pain- i converted my gen3 camry to a 3.5 front end and there were some technicalities.

I will be paying for the car tomorrow and taking delivery asap :D

I thought in the pics that car looked lower than stock, if I was you I would have argued for a lower price because of the cost to put it back to stock  , I have been around for quite awhile and I'm 100% sure I've seen that Solara around before on Solaraguy.

I was looking through the grill threads and noticed this. Is your grill painted DWP? If so, you might want to PM him if hes still around to see if there is something else aftermarket.

toy4x4boy wrote:Here's the completed painted grill...3 coats base white, 3 coats pearl, 4 coats clear. I'll post photos of it installed on the car later today in the pics area. 8)

Exactly

That's exactly who it is, from Kalamazoo, MI. I'm wondering how much he got for the trade and how much the dealer made  , he should pm him.

I have a set of the stock struts and stock springs off my 1999 SE V6 Solara for sale, they had about 65k miles on them when I replaced them with TEIN/Tokico's. They were working perfect when I removed them from the car. Make an offer! Thanks!

holly crap that is my car! That car has been sitting on the lot since September, I'm so glad someone who will appreciate it bought it! I felt bad it sat there so long, I loved that car. I babied it, you have nothing to worry about.

Curious

Postby JMSinMaryland » Fri Mar 16, 2007 9:37 pm

How much did you get for it when you traded it in?

"I traded in my 99 V6 5-speed loaded with JBL, leather, and moonroof for $7,000, it had 84k miles, in Sept 2006. That was well above KBB value and above Edmunds TMV pricing"

"I committed to buying the car tonight, 7900 bucks and shes mine! wont be able to get it til friday or saturday, but theyre holding it for me! first mod will be a timing belt and water pump"

I guess $900 profit isn't so high for the dealer, too bad the connection wasn't made before the purchase, I think knowing the car had been on the lot for 6 months could have gotten that profit bumped down even further. I wonder if the car is still set up for dual exhaust, etc? Jon. p.s. give him your service records

the car doesnt have the dual exhaust anymore, personally duals really arent my taste. I did pay 7900 but they put a new clutch and exhaust on it, so I dont think they made barely any money off of this car. Its a shame it sat there so long, this is a rare car and exactly what i wanted!
