I wouldnt worry about it, as long as you hit the sides with primer. I did my OEM grill without sanding the sides of the bars. But then I cut it up and made a mesh one.

I'm no paint professional, some of the other guys are the ones to ask.

if you dont sand the sides it will be perfectly fine once you prime the whole thing...
however sometimes paint may chip off easier on those spots.

its really up to you. if you want to finish this today then just prime it the way it is. paint should last few months before you need to re-coat.

you will definately need to touch up grill in few months as rocks and small objects are always hitting it while driving

Alright, after 3 hours of sanding the bars down, and 30 minutes after using 320 to smooth things over. I washed it twice with dish washing soap.

I dried it and primed it.

3 coats total, I did everything what you guys told me. After priming everything it was 7 oclock, it got too dark to sand it again and paint it.So I am going to postpone it again because it's going to be fcking raining again in the Bay tomorrow.

Here are some photos

It has some smudges, scratches, drips and bumps, but sanding will hopefully take care of it.

Btw guys, any tips about sanding it after the primer?

Sanding after priming should be a light pass, just enough to get rid of the imperfections. use a smooth grit

THANK YOU EVERYONE! I wouldn't be able to do it without you or my friend that helped me with the primer.

It ain't perfect, but it's perfect for me
There are some leaks and smudges, and I touched the wet paint with my finger and took off some primer off it too. But I LOVE IT. THANKS AGAIN
