would like to survey how many of solara owners go to their neighborhood toyota dealerships for service on their vehicles? and what kind of experiences they have encountered? good or bad? just curious

Only go there for parts. But there was this one time I went there, A semi truck was backing into the building. I was just about to get to a parking space then they start yelling at me and stared me down. I had to back up and go all the way around the lot to get to that space. That same semi was blocking this woman from coming out of her parking space. Some toyota employees just looked and kept walking, I went out and navigated her way out....

i think youll find that the general consensus is that dealerships are way too overpriced (especially on labor) and the only reasons for going to one would be to get genuine toyota parts or if youre under warranty.

I only take my cars at the dealerships! (but small stuff like resurfacing brakes...or like i had no clue how to replace the lights under the auto shifter...) thats when i went to the local shops. Because my celica was 'dealer maintained' it sold for $3.9K despite being 12 year old and w/ 155K miles.

I go there for everything I can't do myself.

I have a great service guy Jeff and parts guy Steve.

They take good care of me. A+ Customer Satasfaction report from me!

Don't take her to anywere else but Toyota dealer. Everything is on record and good when you want to sell your car like Jai said.

Some dealers are shady while others are not.

I take mine only because I get the employee discount =P Can't beat that!

^ He is right. This place I am talking about is 45 minutes away from me. There is one just down the street 5 minutes and I refuse to take my car there. How about they had the balls to send me a satisfaction survey and I told them exactly how I felt. I am in quality assurance and know that when there is a satisfaction survey going out for a particular location is cause they need feedback to get down to the root cause of the problem.

For warranty work only, it goes to the dealer. All other non-waranty goes to a local independent shop.
