I have 74k on my 3.0 Solara, i changed the oil today, the old oil was poured into a bucket so everything was done then check the bottom of the bucket and their was little rust shavings/ i opened the cap on the crankcase and touched the bottom of it and it was rust like it was eating the head away, what to do Sell the car and get another solara or????

get the engine flush first and see

Need more info: Are you the original owner, do you know the maint history of the car when not in your care. How was the maint when in your care? What oil? reg/synthetic? do you do any autocross, or drive really hard? Do you have receipts to back your oilchange intervals....could this be a sludge problem?

Engine flush (i think some celica guys mighy suggest with diesel additive) would help you elevate the metal shavings, but whats causing them? I wouldn't ditch the car untill you can't isolate whats causing this?
