My check engine light came on today

Postby nitza » Thu Aug 12, 2004 10:31 am

I was on my way to work today and i looked down and low and behold my check engine light is on. But the car doesnt drive any different, so i dont know what caused it to come on all of a sudden. Does anybody have a clue as to why this happened? The car only has 67k on it.

Only way to find out is to check the error code.

I will check the gas cap. Is there anything else that might have caused this? I really dont want to take it to the dealer.

a common error seems to be 'insufficient EGR flow'. u can do one of two things. take it to a place that checks the code for free, i beleive it was autozone (run a search, im not sure), and then u can take it home and disconnect your negative battery terminal for one minute. this will reset your ecu. reconnect the negative terminal and start your car. if you drive about 40-50 miles and the light doesnt come back on, then you're probably fine. if there is a real problem, however, then the light will come back on and you should have it checked out. but get the code pulled first for free.

Well if it was an "Igen" intake I'm sure it was. If you are talking about the Injen intake then that is the first time I hear that a CE light was caused by having the Injen Intake. You or who ever, may not have installed it right.
