Water in fog lamps

Water in fog lamps

Postby mox » Sun Aug 15, 2004 12:49 am

I see many 1st gen Solara with water in one of the both fog lamps.

Is this a common problems for these cars ?

I recently got a Solara and there was some rust on the driver side fog.. And every times it rains a lot or I get the car washed, I see that there is some water inside..

The lens is not broken and the housing seems to be fine.

How can I remove the fog lamp assembly so I can get a closer look and fix it if it can be fixed ?

Thanks

One of my fogs would fill with water after the rain so I took it out one day to get a closer look. (access it from under your car, you'll have to undo part of the splash guard) The lamp housing was cracked so I cleaned the water and resulting algae out of the fog, let it dry, and sealed the crack with silicone. No water or condensation since.

Exactly what I need to do ;)

I already removed the splash guard from under the fog lamp but how do you remove it from the bumper ?

I see a bolt when I put my head under but it looks like an adjustement bolt so I don't want to touch it...

I did not completely remove the splash guard, I just undid a few of the bolts and pushed it out of the way so that I could unscrew the fog light. Lemme know if you are still stuck.
