what are this risks of putting 87 octane instead of 89 or 91 into the v6. i know lower octane can detonate prematurely, but it seems to be running just fine.

for N/A v6, 87 NAME BRAND gas will do as fine as 89 or 91.

i've been using 87 since it's new until 20k i got my s/c. Nothing is wrong or lossing perfomance.

we should be using 91+ octane cause our cars are consider high compression so 91+ octance will be better for us

BS. 87 does just as fine as 91 or higher in street/spirited driving. Waste of money otherwise, its all in ur head.

I use 93 octane....the car doesn't feel right when i use 87. I've notice that i've gotten more miles per gallon...not much..but at least 10 more miles out of my tank. With 87 octane I got 330-335 mi..with premium i've gotten 340-345. I've used premium with all my cars and they've all lasted past 150,000 miles. Of course, they're all toyota's also.

i use 93 octane and get 440 to 450 miles from 16 gallon, maybe i should try 87 octane next time, and see if it is the same.

There's nothing wrong with 87 octane gasoline unless your engine is knocking. If you don't have any knocking issues, there's absolutely no point in paying the extra money for higher octane gas. It won't give you any extra power, and it doesn't keep your engne any cleaner. Octane is not a measure of power, it's simply a measure of resistance to spontaneous detonation.

Come on now hari, give your baby 89 and call it a day. It is only $1.80 and .10 cents more then 87. If it was me. I would be putting 93 each and every time. Sure it's $1.90 or $2.00 but I don't care.

On that note. What happens if you add 93 octane to a California spec car? Do cali spec cars have lower hp then federal?
