Okay, just about everything increases horse power according to the advertisers. Even platinum plugs .. PLEASE! Where's the rolling eye smilie when you need it. I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm going to need to see the hard facts before you can change my mind on this. Besides, if that's the only benefit, I don't see much point. 0.5hp isn't much, even on a lawn mower.
Synthetic oil has less mineral deposits, less carbon, a higher boiling temperature, and is not as viscous (I guess this is the less friction part?).
There are definite benefits to using synthetic but it's debateable whether or not you'll ever realize those benefits in such a short time and whether it offsets the cost.
you can drain it without flushing.
