00 solara, 96 4runner - 1 remote control?

heya!

i've got a 1996 4 runner w/ a 2-button ghetto lookin remote. looks like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=33723

i've also got a 2000 SE solara w/ a 3-button (if you count panic) lookin remote. looks like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=33723

FCC ID on solara remote is: GQ43VT14T

on the 4runner, the two buttons are for 2 toyotas. the top button locks/unlocks toyota1, the bottom locks/unlocks toyota2.

i've tried programming in the remote via these instructions and i know i'm in the programming sequence as the locks lock/unlock when they are suposed to, but, to no surprise, it doesn't add the remote:
http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... =gq43vt14t

right off the bat, the instructions instruct you to hold down the lock/unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously. well, the old 4runner doens't have distinguishable lock/unlock buttons. i did try holding both toytoa1 and toyota2 buttons simultaneously.

so the bottom line question is this: is there a way to get my 4runner and solara on the same remote? (without cheating and going aftermarket :P )

thx!

i shoudl have added: i assume the 4runner is the weaker alarm of the two. maybe a remote exists that i don't know of for the solara that would control 2 toyotas that i'd stand a better chance of working? (being that the solara is a newer alarm?)

thx!

a lot?

:P

i seriously cannot argue w/ that logic, it makes sence.

however, i treat mine more as a 'keyless entry' than an 'alarm'.

i doubt it can be done anyways, but thought i'd ask in case it could! :)
