someone help with this rattle please *UPDATE* fixed

I got the rattle on the rear end supected to be the rear struts mounts...So I got the car apart last night down to the bare metal and seats are out so I can see the rear strut mounts... The three bolts holding each strut mount are atleast more than finger tight. Do I need to put a wrench on the bolts to see if they are tight or could it be something else rattling. i think it the drivers side rear because when I go over a bump at a diag....there is no rattle on the pass rear but there is on the driver rear. This is driving me nuts! Should I just take the rear struts out completely and check or does someone know what could cause this...

It was the strut shaft nut that was loose....no more rattles

Do put a wrench on the nuts to make sure and also check the strut shaft bolts. That is a very common problem especially if they were not put together correctly. If the shaft bolt keeps spinning and will not torque down then I am afraid you will have to pull the assemblies apart and do it right. You might get lucky though and have it lock together and the bolt will end up tightening okay. Also check the 2 hub bolts just in case although it's not too likely that is the problem. Good Luck.

I figured it out. It was the center nut under the plastic dust cap. The strut shaft nut was barely hand tight. I was able to tighten it without taking it apart and now my solara is beautiful and quiet again! Thanks for the help

yea this seems to be a common problem for some reason. i had to take my car back to get the same thing fixed. it always seems to be the passenger side rear strut. go figure does anyone know if this problem will keep recurring or is a one time fix going to take care of it?

if it keeps on happening, use some thread locker paste. Dont know what it is called off the top of my head but its a blue color and it keeps nuts/bolts/screws from getting loose due to vibration.

Do you mean LOCTITE? Good stuff, you can pick it up at AutoZone or Napa
