Stock radio question

Stock radio question

Postby guest » Thu Nov 07, 2002 10:28 pm

My 99 solara has no radio but we got a hold of a stock one(00 camry I think which is pretty much the same size) however, it did not come with the stock amp. I was wondering if its possible to use the stock radio w/o a stock amp or if it will work fine with a aftermarket amp?

ok, the radio will fit, but i cant remember if the mounting brackets are the same from the camry to the solara, i think so but either way worst case is 20 bucks for a new set,
Now on this radio, on the back is there two slots for plugs or is there one. two is a non amplified radio, one is for an oem amp. if you have two, doesnt matter what was in there before, it will work.

oh btw if it was one plug, that meant the one plug would of gone into the stock amp and more wires would come out of the stock amp to connect to the rest of the car right?

No, someone probally put an aftermarket headunit in their solara and then sold the car, but kept the stereo. Or the stock headunit could have been stolen
