My previous car was a '96 avalon xl. If im not mistaken, the engines and drive train look almost identical.

Why would they use the same drivedrain in a 00' solara that was outdated by four years? am i mistaken?

because for the 3.0L DOHC motor that can pump out 200hp and good torque, that was very impressive already. Look at accord, it took them long time to catch up the horsepower figure with vtec (2000 vs 2000). but now they beat the toyota motor.

1992 was the first year 1mzfe was used on the camry's (prior years it was 2vzfe, the 2.5 v6). 1mzfe's are great engines, i've got close to 150K miles on my ES300 (which also came with 1mzfe), still running strong.

I like to hear success stories about this motor. I know from experience that it is very strong and reliable.....I just want more horses.

costs lots of aftermarket $$$$ and so do knock sensors and other various issues that pop up after installing one.
