Reverse to Drive and Brakes

Reverse to Drive and Brakes

Postby frohboy33 » Mon Mar 07, 2005 12:24 pm

I am getting a pretty good clunk when I shift from reverse to first when the car has just been started. After driving for awhile it seems better. Also my breaks squeek, but only the first time I break. After that Its fine no sound what so ever.

I had heard that these may be common problems, but nothing to worry about. Anyone else have these problems or have heard this?

Not sure on the shifting, but the brakes, depending where you live, the disc gets moisture and or rust on it after sitting for a night. When you drive off and use it for the first time, the pads scrape that off and can cause some noise for the first couple of pedel press's

Mine used to make some sort of crunching sound when backing out of the driveway and shifting to drive. But only on a cold engine. As far as i know it has since gone away and there are no problems.

pretty much common probs, your brakes squeek as they have moisture buildup on the disc's (by spashing water from sprinkers or morning due). the clutch thing sounds normal too!

when you say clunk its not a grinding noise...is it just real rough when you shift? cause that is a problem that might be eaisly fixed

just do the opposite and see if it helps (remeber that the wire is a little loose)

When are you shifting? is the car still in motion while you're making the transition? I've heard of that happening before, its not a good idea

My brakes squeak on the first few times I step on them from the moisture or what not from over night......I heard that is a common problem but nothing to worry about. Don't know about that clunking noise though....
