Resonator problem?

Resonator problem?

Postby SiegSolara » Mon Mar 07, 2005 3:57 pm

Hey guys, got another question

Whenever my engine is running at 2,800 rpm, I hear this awful buzzing/grinding like noise, its tough to explain. As far as sound effects, it sounds like 'BZzzzzzz'. Doesnt matter what gear Im in. The noise goes away above and below the 2700-3000 rpm range.

A friend told me its most likely the resonator going out, any second opinions? Thanks again.

Does it happen only when coasting or accelerating? All the time? My buddies honda does that at about 2500 rpm he went and had it looked at and it was just the exhaust vibrating against the braces. He damped it and it went away.

I notice the noise when Im accelerating, now that you mention it, I dont think it makes the noise (that Im aware of, anyways) when Im coasting at 2800 rpm...

I'll have to try it on the way home from work to be sure.

a worn out resonator is like having an exhaust that makes it LOUD even at idle...a muffler shop can tell you for sure for free....

Leak, worn out, or screws getting loose. My solara Number 2 does that until you go fast. It has loose screws.
