take about 3 to 6 hours, i must say the hardest part is the crank pully nut, but if you have all the right tools, everything should be relatively easy,
if you replace with a new timing belt, you just need to line up the belt marks and cam shaft gear.

are drive belts and belt tensioner on your replacement list as well, besides the timing belt and water pump?

I have a 99 SE Auto V6 too.
With the ugly 15" alloys! :-)

I would definately check the tensioner. If it isn't leaking I would suggest giving it a few pumps in a vice just to work it a little.

V6 timing belt

Postby PDX SuperSolara » Tue Mar 15, 2005 9:08 am

Having done several of these timing belts, I have to say this is one of the more difficult ones to get timed right the first time unless you have a lot of experience with this particular application. The good part is that it is a non-interference engine so you probably won't bend the valves if you get it wrong. Just keep trying until you get the timing belt on right, as you know it has to be perfect for the engine to run properly, the biggest pain is removing the tensioner and resetting the rod which has to be pressed in slowly and held in place with a pin.
