If you are going through the trouble of pulling the door panel a good grease will last much longer then WD40..

Those things are pretty well greased at the factory though so I would suspect that something is either lose or the motor or gears are going bad.

mostly when the regulator goes, the window slides down as usual, it just doesn't slide back up normally! (thats been my usual suspect).

It sounds like gears in there, other than that it opens and closes fine. Anyone know how many bolts there are to the side panel?

If it sounds like something is grinding in there, it is probably your regulator. Thats how mine sounded and the grinding was actually caused by the regulator cable getting off the pulley and banging around in the door. I would reccomend just replacing the whole regulator so you dont have to worry about it anymore. On the door, there are several clips around the bottom, and also 2 screws on the bottom. Right next to the door hinge there is another screw with a cover on it. Also remove the screw in the door handle assembly, you will see a little square cut out to open to get to the screw. Two left, there is one in the bottom of the small cup/handle used to close the door. Then you will need to take out the switch panel and below there is the final screw, holding the whole panel to the door. Take this out and voila! Sorry if this seems really long and confusing, but actually the process is very easy!

Not confusing at all thanks. To get this regulator I assume I have to goto the dealer.
