Heel-and-toe downshifting

Heel-and-toe downshifting

Postby Russian Mafia » Sat Jul 16, 2005 6:35 am

Hey guys, has anyone of you with manuals tried heel-and-toe down shifting. When i try doing that, it's really hard for me to reach two pedals at the same time. They seem to be too far apart. Do I do something wrong, or they actually are too far apart? I was thinking about buying a set of racing pedals, since they usually wider. Any suggestions?

Thanks

For beginners, you could brake into the corner, let off slowly and shift over to the gas and give it a blip and downshift. Then immediately go back and apply the brakes smoothly.

It's an absolutely crucial technique that you need for the track (you know, the one that has turns?). Maybe he's trying to track or something.

That's what i ususally do. And no i dont go to race track or anything, but I just wanted to learn how to do this. As i can see some people have not even attempted that. I read in one of the articles that if you learn heel-and-toe down shifting it can be fun and usefull in every day driving.

Oh yeah and typo was kinda funny, but i'm sure you guys never misspell anything.

It may help you sometimes in getting out of sticky situation where you need to get a fast downshift and a quick escape.

When I'm driving my friend's cars, I usually practice heel-toe when getting off the freeway. Fun stuff
