case of the butchered car installation! what's wrong w/ luv?

what's wrong w/ my car. today when i got outta work i tried to use the car starter from the window. the past couple of days, i've had to fight w/ the remote to get it to start, so it didn't actually start till i literally got ontop of the car.

ok..watever...my driver's side door was frozen, but i managed to somehow get the passenger side door open and crawled thru to the driver's seat.

i got about half way home and i noticed that the rmps on the dash stayed at 0...and the speedo wouldn't go over 38mph...i was on a long stretch of road by myself and put the pedal almost all the way down...i have no clue how fast i was going, but the speedo stayed at 38mph and the rpms stayed at 0.

i finally got my driver's door open, but i'm wondering if it was frozen, cause it didn't rain or snow and it's not cold enough.

my mother's boyfriend said the place my dad took it to screws up a lotta electrical systems in car (o god..woulda been nice to know before!!)

this might be unrelated too, but since i got the car starter (valet 522t model) last saturday i have moisture on the windows when i get into the car. it's not moisture like defroster type..it's almost like the inside windows are wet...i've had to wipe the windows down w/ papertowels to see out.

wtf did they do to luv!!!? :(

as for the the tach and speedo not going past 38mph, they may have the wrong tach wire it sounds like. when you put in a car starter you gotta get the right tachometer wire. the moisture...i'm not too sure. do you leave the heater on when you leave the car? it may be starting your car on its own. you can program car starters to do that if you wanted to. maybe it was a default that they forgot to disengage.

I cant have a remote starter for my car cause its a 5spd. I sometimes wish it was auto. Anyway, Take it back Missay but you may wanna take it to someone else. If the place you had it installed is as bad as your moms bf said... They could screw it up even more. Its a tuff call. Good luck :o

Missay have you been giving your car all the TLC (tender love and care) it deservers. Also whats the temperature been around by you? What i dont get is how the moisture on the inside wouldn't be frozen but the door was. HMM

Really? I just thought that since the clutch pedal had to be pressed before the car would start it would be impossible to have. Interesting!

you only need to press the clutch for safety. there is a switch, that you could bypass, if you wanted to start the car without having to press the clutch.

 yank, yank, yank...do u even need to ask this question?

u know..that's a really good point!! the moisture wasn't frozen...weird...the other weird part is that it's usually the front window, but that night i couldn't open the doors it was the back window (is someone getting feaky in my car when i'm in work steaming the windows up??! )

when they install a car starter w/ that sensor on the front dash, is there anyway they can mess up the seal of the body of the car and the windshield? like do they just stick it on there, or do they run wires anywhere?

lately it's been around freezing point, maybe higher, maybe lower. the other night it was 16degrees, but i think the night the doors "froze" it was like 34 degrees, which doesn't make sense that it froze.

and wanna hear the strangest part? yesterday when i drove the car, the doors open find, the tach and speedo worked fine, but the only thing that still didn't work was that i had to be right on top of the car to get the starter to work. so much for 500yrd thru building range! more like 5foot range i have right now w/ the starter.

if i take it somewhere else tho, won't they charge me? the place i had it done would be forced to do it for free right? hey, if they screw it up more, they're buying me a new luv! (but "luv" ccould never be replaced! :( i share too many memories w/ her! she's the one thing i can always depend on!! and she listens to me when i'm upset and never interrupts!)

Maybe you can contact the manufacturer of the remote start and try to find an authorized dealer/installer in your area. I had a problem on my Supra once with a Clifford system. Clifford sent me to another dealer and reimbursed them directly for the removal and subsequent correct installation. Only cost me a few bucks to have it done right.
