TRD Exhaust?

TRD Exhaust?

Can anybody tell me what a TRD exhaust sounds like on a 2002 V6 automatic? How much performance increase if any? and how tough to install myself? Can it be installed in an afternoon? How much should I expect to spend? :-?

im not sure how it sounds on a v6 but on an 02 i4 solara it sounds really nice in my opinion. is it hard to take out the stock exhaust i would say get your car on a lift and do it. it would be much easier that way. and make sure that you use the right tools are else you'll strip the bolt. you'll also have to give a good pull to get it loose.

It sounds like an aftermarket exhaust should...clean. BUT with the TRD exhaust, you have alot of highway speed drone which does get annoying. Performance increase...realistically...only about 2-3hp...which you really wont feel. You can install it yourself...but like Richard said, the OEM bolts are a paint to take off unless you dremel them off.

Dual Exhaust

Postby JMSinMaryland » Sun Dec 22, 2002 8:36 am

I was thinking if I ever wanted to go the route of dual exhaust I could switch the muffler part of my Apexi exhaust to the TRD, I think it would be a lot easier "balancing" the TRD mufflers than two huge Apexi. I find the TRD muffler to be quite loud compared to the Apexi. I hope when I upgrade to high flow headers and y-pipe and keep my Apexi WS 'stock' Im still quieter than the TRD muffler by itself. Jon.

Dual exhaust  I wish. I tried so hard for it. Its just not gunna happen on our platform without a ton of headaches

Personally i'd get the Apexi world sport of a cat back system. It will open up the exhuast pipes a little and its much quieter. If you want noise, but you still want cat-back get the greddy evo but still i'd stay away from TRD because its too expensive for too little
