take AC system out, take power steering out, take out all the sound insulating parts, strip the interior, CF hood and trunk...etc

It's either all or nothing. I know Shishoda has ripped out most of his interior (if I recall correctly) and has an xB as a daily driver. Removing one or two things isn't going to change the overall character of the vehicle to where it would be worth the trade off of being stuck with a flat tire or being required to buy an offbrand tire because you got a hole in you tire close to the sidewall. I think you'd get a much better mileage boost from simply ensuring that the tires are correctly inflated. If you travel in rural areas, I personally think you're trading a whole lot of potential inconvenience for a performance gain likely to be barely measurable, much less being noticeable.

Ya, if you're doing it to save MPG you'd have to take out so much that it wouldn't really be fun to drive enough that the mileage matters.

every 200 lbs more = 1 mpg loss.... so you may save 1 mile per TANK if you remove it...
