brakes shaking

I just bought a 20001 solara sle. I've noticed that when i press on the brakes I can feel the brake pedal shaking. Also when I start braking at over 50mph the steering wheel starts to shake. I know this isnt normal and i was wondering if any of you guys know what the problem could be. Thanks

Check your brake pads and rotors, especially since you bought your car used. The rotors might be warped or the pads might be worn down.

It sounds like your rotors are warped. Better have a mechanic check your brakes.

I had that problem with my Jeep. The front passenger brake caliper was loose. After I tightend it, the shaking was gone. I would go have it checked out by a brake shop unless you know how to.

Just for precaution I would also check your brake fluid.

Almost 110% sure your brake rotor are most likely warped

Yeah your rotors are warped.
My rotors are warped too, will need to change them.

like everyone said...ur rotors are gone. You will need new pads which probably run like $50 each. And then see if you can get the rotors fixed...or you might have to get new ones if the are pretty bad. I would suggest doing this ASAP since there may still be a chance for you to use your current rotors.

As an aside, it's probably not a bad idea to also get your brake fluid changed.
