Differences from Gen 1 to 1.5

1) Front bumper, includes:
Smaller Fog lights
Different fenders
Headlights - Seperate bulbs for High and Low (9006 + 9005, vs 9003 Dual Filament in Gen1)
Corner lens

None of the above is swappable between 1 and 1.5 unless you change everything above.

2) Taillights (Same shape, swappable, but different lens)

3) 4Cyl goes from 2.2L 5SFE 135HP to 2.4L 2AZFE 160HP.

4) Trunk button moves from under the seat to in the glove compartment.

5) Wood trim is goes from burlwood oak to mustard wood.

6) Added wood trim around shifter.

7) Remote entry includes trunk popper.

8) DRLs can be turned off with a switch.

9) Independent Fog lights.

10) Optional Heated seats.

I think thats it....

trunk button was moved in most but not all for some reason...

The wood is faux golden bird's eye maple, not mustard plastic lol... i prefered the 1.0 wood though

everthing stated above, and:
1. there are some three spooke steering wheels for gen 1.5 (right??)
2. Their driverside airbag for 4spoke steering wheels had a chrome toyota badging (where as us gen1 guys had an indent in the airbad only).

<2001 the 16's alloys had black center caps, then they were same as the wheels.

I have a friend who often drives her sisters gen 1.5 Solara. I hadn't seen her in a long time but we hung out ther other day and in a parking lot I had to pull my car dead even next to hers to compare them side by side in real life.

Now I don't know what it was, but her car looked to be slightly shorter, and by that I mean less tall. It seemed to be so by about a half inch or so. I don't know if it's just from sagging springs with my ca rbeing that much older or if it indeed is shorter.

Also I think it may havebeen an optical ilusion type thing as I still have my wind deflector on my sunroof and she doesn't have one.

Either way, hers definitely had that type of look and also made me a little jealous of a few gen 1.5 front end aspects.

I think I may end up removing my wind deflector from my sunroof soon.

i dont' think any 1.5's have 3 spokes..i want one though.. they do have that chrome badging on the 4 spokes.

gen 2's have 3 spokes, and so do some 04+ toyotas (matrix, corolla)

Me too! The indent looks kinda cheap (I even made a post looking for an aftermarket emblem a while back).
