Engine Upgrade --VVTI v6 engine

Postby Hsakuragi » Wed Jan 01, 2003 8:09 pm

Hi all, you think this will work?

VVTI v6 engine from Avalon and swap the engine to my V6 Solara, this way I really don't give a F*** on VTEC anymore. Forget the money issue though. I'm saying that if I have this engine now and do you think it will fit or that really needs to take out every single part out from the solara?

Flip are you a mechanic and where do you live? You know a lot of stuff!!

You are very ambitious, grasshopper, but soon enough you will learn the ways of VTEC. hehe, all lame jokes aside, you might want to read up on how VTEC and VVTi works, and will find that they are quite different. Don't worry, your V6 Solara will nonetheless outrun a VTEC Civic EX. Why would you want to swap a VVTi 1MZ when an S/C is available to you?

VVT-i on your 1MZ-FE...not worth mentioning. It won't make your car go faster than it is. Plus you negate the application of the S/C. VVT-i is just a continuously variable valve timing addition to the 1MZ-FE.

I'm not a mechanic. I live in SoCal...and I just know my stuff. ;)

Well the SC is applicable for that Avalon engine also (that's what I saw will fit for the solara engine also), as I posted on the first message, money is not the issue. POWER IS EVERYTHING. No more 03 accord will pass me again espically v6, they think they have a 240 engine and can beat toyota, seriously they look god damn ugly DRIVER AND THE CAR!

VVTI V6 + SC = :2gunfire: VTEC --------

Wow, can I ask how old you are?

BTW, the 97-99 Avalon is the only Avalon model with the 1MZ-FE with NO vvt-i. Toyota didn't implement VVT-i on the Avalon until the 2nd Gen Avalon in 2000. . You seem pretty intent it's that easy. Well truthfully it isn't. It's not all plug and play and drop in with just cash. The dual throttle body design of the 1MZ-FE w/VVT-i IS NOT COMPATIBLE with the single throttle body inlet of the S/C. The S/C was only intended to fit these models....and ONLY these models. I think you have alot more to learn and need to do more research about Toyota engines.

97-01 Gen4 Camry 1MZ-FE
99-03 Camry Solara 1MZ-FE
98-00 Sienna
98-99 Avalon (Toyota has an actual part number for this application...but due to lack of interest and demand, cancelled it before it's actual release to the public. It's also listed in all of the instruction diagrams.)
97-98 ES300 (Although not listed, it will work on this model since VVT-i wasn't implemented until 99).

BTW, I suggest you use the Search feature...it will answer alot of your questions.

Haha...my suggestion (obvioulsy being biased)..is to buy my celica (for sale $5500 OBO, look under sc3's website under for sale section), buy an JDM front Clip ST185 (engine, clip, and tranny), drop that in my baby...and your already there! Like you said...money isn't everything..power is...guess what...you can put in a Gen 3 3sgte, and mate that with my celica...(your donor car) and you have instant 250+hp! But that was my biased decision....honestly...if you got $$, just go buy a skyline and :2gunfire: VTEC --------haha

Edit: Go to http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290887797 to see my celi's pic's...drop in a 3sgt3 in that...its all ready for 225hp+modding...

Their seems to be a lot of hatred toward VTEC and Honda's...why is that? Honda owner's don't hate on Toyota cars, but it seems that Toyota owners hate Honda's. Yes...Toyota makes some really amaizing cars, but so does Honda. I'm sorrie but the New Accord with teh SIX speen manual transmission will blow away any other family Toyota car.

we have a lot of hatred towards VTEC. Let's not let one user's opinion ruin it for us other Toyota owners. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to find that some members on SolaraGuy actually own a Honda as well. We, at least I, don't hate Honda's, and I agree that Honda makes some great cars as well. Let's not take one Solara's owner's comment, and assume others are the same.

Yes... I didn't mean ALL Toyota drivers hate Honda's. Just so far in this forum there's just much of it. I'm just saying that you would think that Japanese Car enthusiasts would have more comradery (<---dunno bout spelling) than that. At first it used to be Imports vs. Domestics, then RWD and FWD, N/A and Turbo, but Import vs import? How strange...atleast I think so. And for however say's f*ck VTEC...I haven't met a single Celica that I'm scared of.

hahahahaha

I own a Solara and I do not hate on Honda's as some may seem to on this board. When you say that Honda people don't hate on Toyota's, where do you live? Where I live, the Bay Area, seems that most Honda people hate on my car and always try and call me out everytime they seem my car. Honda owner's don't hate on Toyota cars.... <----- NOT TRUE!

Oh yeah, a properly tuned 5spd S/C Solara can take the 6spd Accord if you didn't know.
