SOMETHINGS UP W/ MY CAR...

SOMETHINGS UP W/ MY CAR...

Postby HwEaNnRgY » Sun Jan 12, 2003 4:56 pm

as some of u guys might know, i just got my solara on the 26th of last month.. anyways now when i stop at a light or stop at a stop sign, there is like a vibration or a shaking of some sort like a rumbling in the glove compartment when i gas it again(inside the glove compartment isn't where you open the latch, but way INSIDE the glove compartment). It doesn't have that sound when i back up or anything, but just when i gas it. its sounds as if two plastic things are touching against each other but not sure wat it is. The sound is definitly from the passenger side and im not dure wat it is but.. ITS VERY ANNOYING AND IM ALMOST LOSING MY MIND!!!

HELP ANYONE??

I get that problem from time to time, and i have a 99 SLE. What I usually do is just hit it :D Probably soon I'll just find a place to put dynamat or something to reduce the rattling.

that's weird..ahh, just jack the volume up on the radio, you'll never hear it. :)

do you have the factory stereo system in?? if you can rule out the speakers causing the rattling, i'd have it looked at, cause god knows what's going on under there cause the noise. hopefully it's something simple.

bro, i'm pretty sure i know what it is.

try and move your pass. seat up a little. did you recently move your pass. seat to let someone in the back? did you do it by lifting the lever on the side? what happens when you do that is the WHOLE seat comes loose and slides back. the seat can't sit all the way back; it'll give you that "clinking" noise. check your seat.

if youre sure its coming from behind the glove compartment and not something inside of it, you can easily pull open the rectangular panel beneath it and feel around inside for something that may be loose. it may take some acrobatics - put the passenger seatback down all the way and lie on it upside down with your head in the footwell to get the best view.

it may also be your passenger seat like krooked said. in my car the lever for the passenger seatback rattles when i go over some bumps. i fixed it by turning up the stereo. these JBL's give some great sound. :D

Does it have anything to do with the radiator fan kicking on?

no no, my car does this too its a 99 also all its is, is that the latch where the glovebox locks in isnt as tight as it used to be so it gives it freeplay, like when i start out giong(manual) if its a shaky start it'll do it.... its nothing big just find out where the contact part is and put some piece of rubber or as "ICrazyChrisI" said put a piece of dynamat.. hope this helps c ya .... P.S. i need to find time to do it to mine lol

Thanks guys,
actually there is this panel under the glove compartment, i had to take that off and it was really that which was banging against something. One of the latches were broken so i just took it back to my toyota dealer to get a new one. Thanks for all the help though :D
