from personal experience. Idle control sensor problem symptoms: The car revs up and down at stop lights and intersections (like its breathing)...when the problem gets worse, the car stops on its own (due to low low rpms). We had this problem on our ford contour.

Try doing simple things first to test if the sensors are the problem first. Clean the Throttle Body thouroughly and do a seafoam treatment to see if it helps. If not then start looking into the sensors. Does your car seem to heating up more than normally? Does the engine shake violently? It maybe either the idle speed control valve or the engine coolant temperature sensor.

Good Luck

Did you disconnect your MAF sensor for any reason while cleaning the TB and forget to hook it back up? (though this would make your engine stop all together, not just dip in rpm) Also check for any vac lines you left disconnected after your TB treatment.

I had a similar problem when my battery started going bad, revs would drop. Got a new one and all was well again.

See this thread I started. Look for "FLETCH"'s response.

http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=22550

I haven't checked the TPS yet, but I have the EXACT SAME problem that you do man. Its some scary crap when your accelerate then the car starts chuggin and dropping rpm. My car haven't done this in the past, even when I s/ced it. It only started to happen a few months ago...I got s/ced in oct. When I find out the problem, I'll let you know.

Let me know too if you found the remedy.

I've tried changing gas startion for a fill up too to see if that helps....its not as bad know but its still there.

I have no clue how to change the idle control sensor..hence i didn't want to contribute. If your still experience problems, talk to matt or shawn, heck they've swapped 3s motors before..so this should be a cakewalk for them. I'm pretty sure matt's number should be my prior PM's to you.

it might come back chief. I was tinkering around too to see if I could fix it. It would stop then come back, hell it just did a few hours ago. This sucks.
