Postby SleeperSolara » Tue Jan 24, 2006 9:01 am

Will i had gotten my car a 4 wheel alignment when i wrecked my car, and then again when i got new tires.
Well about a few days later the car started to drift to the right wit the steerin' whell straight.
Well the guy that fixed my car thinks it's the right wheel hub bearin'.
Goin' to check it out soon.
Goin' to go to shop to have them check it for me.
Anyways has anyone changed this before?????
Will be goin' to read up on the Haynes book about wheel hub bearin'.

if you jack up the car and are able to wobble any of the wheels secured, it's the bearing. if not, it's something else

I had a rear wheel bearing go out on my Camry. Its not that hard to change. On my Camry, I took off the wheel, pulled the drum off of the axle. Then there were two holes in the end of axle on the flat part where the wheel bolts to. Those allow you to get a socket to the where the axle carrier/spindle bolts to the axle housing. After thats done there is a large nut on the threaded portion of the spindle. Its peened on so you will have to pry on the flattened portion before it will spin off the spindle. Once thats done press off the old bearing housing and press the new one on the spindle. The Solara has 4 wheel discs so its probably a little different but the basics should get you to where you need to go.

Cause i don't want to f-up the wheel bearin' install.
Got to get it done before it does pre-wear on my tires. :(

Sleeper its really not that hard.. The hardest part is getting the peened locknut off the spindle. I messed up my spindle by not spending enough time pryout out the flat spot on the locknut, and ruined the threads on the spindle. If you dont think u can do the complete job, at least take off the spindle and take it to a machine shop to have the new bearing housing pressed on the spindle.....

Im pretty sure its not your bearing. If its your bearing you WILL hear it when your driving or hitting bumbs. The car pulls to the side because the guy who did your aligment sucks and didnt balance your tires, made sure all tires are correctly balanced, there for he aligned it incorrectly. Also road condition can cause the car to grip more one side then the other.. Other then that its not your bearing.

Hmm I dont know then. The thing is if its a bearing youd hear it because toyotas bearing isnt really tight and all. If you look at a brand new one you see only thing holding it together is both ends. So if its bad youd be able to hear it. I might be tire grip difference on both side or something. And to me I always thought that weight makes a difference. WIth out a driver the car sits different. I give up hehe.
