Radiator flush??????????

Radiator flush??????????

Postby Nyyankees3511 » Tue Jan 24, 2006 5:26 pm

Hey guys, just flushed my radiator, i took out that white plug and drained it out and then let the car run with a water hose on top and let it drain. So i went to pour the coolant/water through the radiator cap and it would hardly take 1 gallon of water? What could be wrong?

You will ahve to empty the engine too man.
You will have to undo the plug on the back side of the engine.
And then once that empties out tighten it back up, and then fill it wit regular water.
And run the heater on full blast for about 5 mins, and then let the car cool down, and empty radiator and engine again.
And then leave the plugs still open, and have the hose on the neck of the radiator, and fill up the car wit the water, and then turn the car on and run the heater full blast, and let the water run through the engine and hte radiator.
And then when fluid that comes out of the radiator and engine clear, let it drain out.
Then tighten the plugs up again.
And then full up wit Toyota Red radiator fluid, and distilled water.
Let me know if you need anymore help.

There one near the front header under it.
Don't use that one cause it a pain to tighten back on.
Use the one on the back of the engine, will have to jack up both sides of the front of the car.
And crawl under the car, and you will see it on the back.
Will be near the rear header.
It should be a 10mm for the rear one.
You can use a plastic tube to have the radiator fluid run in it so it don't splash on your face and everywhere.

Anythin' else????
IM me if you need help if i'm online.

because your cooling system is loaded with air. you need use your hand to pump the lower radiator pipe to squeeze air out. also make sure you use the geniune toyota oem RED coolant.

Is there a noticeble difference when driving after flushing the rad? My gf did it on her car and its way quietter and runs smoother, but she changed the fuel filter and some other stuff to so im not sure what the results of the rad flush are.
