i have kick panels if you want them?

Postby limdoug » Sun Jan 19, 2003 6:34 pm

Hello,

In order to make customized kick panels most shops would charge in the 350 range. I have kick panels for a 99 solara. I still have the panels, but no longer the car. They were wrapped in black carpet. I can take some pictures if you are interested. They just simply replace your stock ones. You take your stock ones out and snap the ones i'm selling in. I had a 5 3/4" dynaudio woofer and a 1" dynaudio tweeter in the kicks. They can be easily modified to fit bigger or smaller speakers. email me if you are interested.

Why would you want "custom" kick panels for audio in the Solara? The Solara already has built-in tweeter placements in the doors, and the woofers are placed right under that. The tweeters would sound way better in the doors than in kick panels because the sound has a closer/more direct path to your ears (highs are directional). Therefore, paying money for kick panels that will diminish the sound quality of your speakers is a waste imo. 8)

nkx1...it's called sound path length. by having the speakers in the kick panels the distance the sound has to travel is just about equalized or as close as it's gonna get in an automobile setting. by having your speakers in the stock location you aren't gonna have that perfect imaging. the only upside i can see from having them in the stock location is a slightly higher soundstage, but depending on your speakers, you might not be able to tell. it may be a waste of money in your opinion, but many audio enthusiasts will agree that kick panels are the way to go.

To the average ear the stock tweeter locations are great, to the audio lover go with the kick panels. Imaging is a great thing once you have you have it adjusted right. Aparently someone hasnt sat and listened to a proper IASCA sound quality car.

Actually the tweeters fire in front of where you sit, and fire directly across. The sound is not actually aimed at your ears. Also the sound length paths are very unequal. The left tweeter is very close to you and the passenger side is much farther. With kick panel it equalizes the sound paths and give you a better front stage. Almost every high end sound quality car will have speakers in the kick panels.

Well if you want custom kick panels, then you'll have to go to a hi-fi store and have them made. That is the definition of custom. If you're asking if they make prefab kicks, I haven't seen them before, but it's possible. Gunman?
