Is it the same light that comes on when you crank the ignition (but turns off once you release the key)? Kinda looks like a car with 6 lines coming from the top half of it (3 on each side)?

If that's it, that's your "rear light out" indicator. If it comes on when you're shifting in reverse, a reverse light is out. Turn signal = Turn signal out (which is also indicated by faster than usual blinking). Tail-light when braking = brake light; when parking or headlight is on = marker. Note it doesn't detect license plate bulbs or any of your front lights (unless I'm mistaken).

Also keep in mind that a burnt light might be harder to spot than a normal light since Toyotas have the ability to switch output to the next working light (e.g. my mother's Camry's front signal burnt out and it still blinked using the less-intense parking light)

Or it could be that the prongs insdie the socket is loose.
Dad's and Grandpa's Camry's do that for the turn signal.
When the light thingy goes on; on the dash and then we check it all teh lights in the back light up like normal.....
MAybe we could wire the license plate bulbs to the turn signal or back-up light to light up on the dash to tell us if it burnt?????

Do all Solaras have an indicator that tells you when you have a light out?

All cars in general have a brake light or any light indicator.

I know for sure that Gen 1 - 1.5's do have that indicator, but for the Gen 2's, you may want to refer to your manual

Usually youll spot the light when you turn your key to the accessory option

If the Gen2's have an optional tire pressure monitoring system, I'm sure that it'll probably have it (but you never know). Also bluesolara, not all cars have it; it's usually on midsize and above cars (like my 2004 SenCrap never had one, but it ironically still had a low washer fluid warning).
