After i installed my hids i noticed that when i put my lights on against a wall form about 15 feet away the driver side has a different pattern than the passenger side. Is that normal?

Show us a pic... Sometimes even in standard Halogen, there's a "pattern" designed to reduce glare for oncoming traffic while still providing maximum range. Here's an example with 1 headlight:

Yeah it's completely fine, the driver's side is actually made (the housing) to shoot a little lower to not get into the oncoming traffic's eyes or shoot glare at them. Just re-aim them to be sufficient and don't worry about the both of them being identical as long as their about the same height, the pattern will definitely be different.

That's an exaggerated depiction, unless you have projectors the cutoff isn't going to be that clean, mine aren't even that clean w/ HIDs so don't worry if it's a little blurred as long as they're basically about the same height s'all good.

Yeah it was a bit exaggerated, but it's not like ASCII drawings do too much justice either.
