Test drove a Solara Conv. Question about roof wind noise

Postby plunk10 » Wed Mar 29, 2006 12:24 pm

Today, I test drove a 2002 Toyota Solara Convertible.

One of the first things I noticed (with the top up), was a lot of wind noise coming from the front of the roof. This was basically where the fabric top seals to the windshield frame at the center (above the rear view mirror area).

Is that normal?

I would assume that older convertibles would have sound issues. Might need to replace the weather stripping.

Might be a cause for leakage.

Roof noise

I have a 2002 convertible and the noise is something all drivers of ragtops deal with. You hear a lot more noise from the outside than in a regular sedan.

I'll have to drive a different one before I make my final decision. If the noise is that loud for ALL of them, then I probably won't want it.
