keyless entry

keyless entry

Postby David » Wed Feb 05, 2003 12:28 pm

Hi guys, I'm new here. I just bought a '99 SE V6 with a five speed, and so far I love it. However, the car came with only one key and no keyless entry transmitter and I don't have an owner's manual for it either. It seems to have all the options (leather, sunroof, spoiler, cd, wood trim) so I was wondering if it actually does have a keyless entry system and I am just lacking the transmitter. I have found transmitters on eBay and I assume I could get one at a dealer. So my question is, how can I find out if my car is equipped with keyless entry without wasting money by taking it to a dealer or taking a wild guess with something off of eBay? Thanks--David

It all depends if your car was packaged from the factory with keyless entry. There's several ways you can check.

1) Do you have a SECURITY LED on your tach along with the immobilizer key (fatter black key than the regular...consult owners manual)?
2) Do you have a TOYOTA security LED at the center console next to the auxiliary DC plug in?

If not, you don't have the factory keyless.
