Are OEM alloys clear coated?

I recently purchased some 16" OEM alloys (used in good condition) and was curious if the wheels have any sort of clearcoat on them? If they do not can anyone recommend a good metal polish to use?

I don't know the answer for sure, but i'd assume they were costed with something. I use wheel cleaers to clean my rims...hence suggesting the same! My pop-in-law suggested to use toothpaste (back in 1960's, that is what they all used)...so you could wax em'!

Yeah some wheels are just plain machine finished wheels and some are machine finished with a clearcoat. The 16" Solara does have a clear coat (which gives the glossy look to the surface)...otherwise it would be rough to the touch.
