SUPERCHARGER - JUST PURCHASED

SUPERCHARGER - JUST PURCHASED

Postby gnaw divad » Wed Feb 12, 2003 2:27 am

I just bought the supercharger for my solara and its coming soon!!! I had some questions about the 5.5 and 6 psi pulleys and how they compared to each other. I have heard that there is actually no power difference but ive also heard that the pulleys boost more than they say and there is a power difference. Not sure what would be a better bet for my new charger....

ALSO, I was wondering if they made a tripod for the solara? if so where could i find one?

THANKX IN ADVANCE !!

There shouldn't be any major difference between the 5.5 and 6psi pulleys...maybe 3-5hp at most.

Never heard of a tripod for a car... ????

Tripod... All I can think is a pod for 3 gauges?
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Possibly, if this is true i've only seen a dual pod gauge cluster for the A pillar

What you've heard about pulleys boosting more than they say refers to spikes of power. It doesn't happen all the time, but for example, occasionally a 6 psi pulley might give you 8 psi in short bursts. I'm not really technically savvy enough to explain why this happens, but perhaps someone else could. In any case, 6 psi seems to be the generally accepted "safe" maximum. I went with a 5.5 psi pulley just to be a little safer. I don't think the difference will be noticeable. I'm very happy with my 5.5 psi. Even with that boost, I have had the Check Engine light go on a couple of times, with a Knock Sensor #2 diagnostic code. Each time, there was no impact on performance, and the light went off within a couple of days on it's own. I have not seen it for several months now.

I have a 6.2psi (2.75) and i love it good power and no problems so far, well just a little spark plug issues. No biggie.

Sorry for the confusion but by tripid i mean the pillar that holds 3 gauges, like Fuel ratio, oil heat, boost meter etc.

I used to own a mitsubishi eclipse and i had one that fit on the piller to the left of the front winshield, it held 3 gauges. I was wondering if they made one for the solara?
