abs light question

Postby prsolara » Wed Jun 28, 2006 1:18 pm

i have the abs ligh in the dash, but i not have any problems with the brakes etc... so my mechanic check it, and it gave this code 31-34 and seems to be the speed sensor circuit....

anyone know how to fix it or what have to do to put the light of the abs off?

thanks in advance  :)

My money's on a snapped ABS sensor when changing the rear shocks.

If you dont support the arms when doing suspension work, the ABS sensor line will break. Symptoms are the ABS light is on all the time, and ABS will be deactivated on those corners where the lines are broken.

^^ yep, thats why i asked my Q? My guess is what Jon suggested. Best bet is to buy new ABS Sensors and in the future before you do any suspension/brake work make sure the dude has worked on toyota's with ABS systems and knows how to support them. I think there was a stickie somewhere in aftermarket in regard to this...read up.

If you had a shop install the struts, I would drill them about it and make them replace your abs sensor.

If you had the suspension work done on your car the shop most likely did not disconnect the ABS sensors located under the rear seats and stretched the wires. You can't fix the already damaged sensors.......they have to be replaced.

I had the same problem when I had it done and had to take out the rear seats again to get to the sensors, the rear panals do not have to comeback out though, just the seats to expose the connectors. I'm assuming your gonna need both rears replaced.

ABS/Speed sensors cost about $135 - $145 each from the dealership to replace. You can do the job yourself if you choose but I would go back to the guy that did the job originally and have them pay for it if possible.

i.e. assuming its both your rears that snapped, if either of your rear wheels lock, ABS wont kick in.
