HELP RPMS GOING NUTS NO IDEA WHATS WRONG!

Postby 01SolaraV6 » Fri Jul 14, 2006 5:54 am

Hey guys this started 2 Weeks ago I had just got off the highway drove mayve 2kms going around 140 and I stopped at the gas station , and my car was all jumpy I looked at my Tach and the rpms were jumping between 0 and 1k. (my tank was at 1/4)
After i filled it up the problem seemed to be gone.

Last night same thing (just above 1/4 tank) But my car was worse normally it only did this in idle, but now it was jerking the car as i drove, very concerning.

Anyone know what this could be , Bad Gas?, Oilchange, Sensor?

anyone have any idea?

Thanks in advance, Mike

whats mileage on your car? and how much maintenance do you do?

sounds like you need to clean the Throttle Body. Look around in the Tutorial Section to find a thread on how to do this. If this doesnt work, your Idle Air Control (IAC) valve may be going bad- you can have that cleaned too.

i had a very similar issue. I had the throttle body cleaned and it did it one more time and then went away. Shortly there after i threw a CEL code for a faulty o2 heater circuit bank 1 sensor 1. I replaced the sensor with new one from Toyota and car drives like brand new again.
