i dont know whats wrong my with my car but it won't go into first gear? i'm thinking transmission fluid, well hopeing its trans fluid.... anyone got any suggestions? and when i try to start it in first gear it just stalls...

idle is fine, the gears will go in if the car is not on, sometimes i can't step on the clutch all teh way down, i check the master cylinder but its not leaking... i just can't get into first gear...

Not leaking anywhere else though, right? Because that is definitely a sign of hydraulic failure, which there might also be an air pocket somewhere (just a wild guess; I'm no expert on transmissions but air pockets mess up brakes).

Slave cyclinder?? Have you had that checked. Thats what helps you engage into gears with your clutch..

found out the clutch master cylinder is leaking.... i was looking at the slave....

changed the master clutch cylinder... it wasn't it.... so its the clutch

For now you should be able to pump it a few times and get it to pop in. I don't know much about transmissions and clutches either, other than how they work, but to diagnose specific problems for certain is a little beyond me.

Definitely sounds like your clutch is shot. Originally your problem was just the release bearing but of course with that not workin right it most likely messed up your clutch. Plus, replacing the release bearing is as much as replacing the clutch; it wouldnt make sense to do that.

i guess its too late but i was gonna write that if you have a hard time putting it into 1st or reverse, try pushing it into the gear while slowly letting off the clutch. it should eventually pop in gear. just quickly press the clutch back down. if this works it means your clutch is going out
