is it bad that i can EASILY get the car- from completely stopped- into motion again starting in 2nd gear?? does this mean anything like needing a new clutch?

Nope, perfectly normal. You should ahev to be slipping the clutch some amount with a little overrev, not like a COMPLETELY normal start, but I get to a slow roll at stop signs, basicly to a stop and go in 2nd all the time. Theoreticly you should be able to start your car in any gear, though I wouldn't recommend anything above 2nd.

It really doesn depemnd on how easily you're getting it to start in second, it could need a new clutch, and it won't start easily in 2nd with a new one, but still, IW ouldn't worr yabout it.

Yeah I won't worry either; this is usually the better way to start in motion when you're on slick roads to prevent wheelspin, but hell, it's summer.
