Thanks wtf. Those are different codes but similar problems. Usually what does P0440 alone mean? The second guy that check it out used a beefy obd2 checker with all kinds of chips and stuff and it said the flow was low?

P0440 – EVAP System Malfunction
· Vapor pressure sensor malfunction
· Fuel tank cap cracked, damaged or incorrectly installed
· Vacuum hose blocked, cracked, torn or disconnected
· Hose or tube blocked, cracked, torn or disconnected
· Fuel tank damaged
· Charcoal canister damaged

Honestly I dont know what the hell the guy is talking about when he says "flow is low"..... WHAT flow??? LOL

anyway the list above should tell you a brief description of what the CEL Code defines. Basically I just had my gas cap pressure tested (failed once, passed once) and went to buy a new gas cap from the dealers for $20.... ever since no problems

first off, just make sure your gas cap is on tight (at least 3 clicks)... drive it around for a while and fill up another tank to see if it comes up again

good luck

Ill try that. It could be the vsv right? Wheres the pressure sensor located? The good thing is i still have my totaled car and i can switch any parts i need. Lol thats what that lil comp that he connected to my car said, it said the flow through the lines was low.

I got the 440 code too. I was driving from California to South Dakota and got off in Salt Lake and found an auto parts store, borrowed their code reader, and they printed out what the code meant. The counter guy recommended I start with a gas cap. I cleared the code, installed the gas cap, and was on my way.. That solved the problem...

You guys are all lucky! I got the code PO446 and it said nothing about a gas cap. So I spent the money on the charcoal canister and it really was my gas cap too.
