Postby rob40wilson03 » Tue Aug 15, 2006 3:21 pm

hey guys i searched but couldnt find a thread with this exact problem

my 2000 SE has a SEVERE rattle that definitely comes from the passenger seat when nobody is sitting in it, and im pretty sure it's from the bar in the front of the seat used to adjust the forward/backward position of the entire seat...... anybody have this problem, and better yet a solution??

thanks in advance

I agree, isn't it a 14mm bolt. Bolt them down hard

bolting doesn't help me. My quick fix solution is to readjust the seat. There is one setting (i think its the second to farthest from dash) in which the seats don't vibrate.

It is a known problem. Not caused by a loose bolt, but rather by a small amount of play in the seat tracks. Haven't heard of any real fix for this, aside from adjusting the seat to a new position or weighing it down with something moderately heavy.

I recently had this same problem.. just adjusted the seat to another notch, and stopped hearing it.

if the bolts from the seat keep on getting loose, just use some lock-tight on them.

it's from the adjustment bar. this problem was discussed when i first got my solara nearly 5 years ago. just adjust the seat.

i hate it when i have passengers in the back because when you pull the lever on the side, it sets the seat back to the "rattle" position.

I had the same problem but fixed it. I thought it was that adjustment bar but it wasn't.

1. I removed the seat.

2. Underneath the seat there are metal rings that rattle against the metal they touch.

3. I used pliers to squeeze them in a tighter diameter.

4. Replaced seat.

No more rattle :D
