How long do you go in between oil changes? In my truck I change every 5,000 miles. I'm just curious what all of you change your synthetic oil at. Thanks. BTW, I'm using Mobil 1 5W-30 to be exact.

I rode for a year on my Mobil 1 EP. I only went 6K last year though, but I think your supposed to change the Mobil 1 EP stuff it every year or 15K, whichever comes first.

The oil was a bit chunkier than I'm used to, I used to change every 3.5K, which turned out to about 3x a year on the amount of mileage I used to use, but I commute to work by bus now.

Redline has been tested to last 25,000 miles, however they recommend changing the oil every 13,000 to 18,000 miles (about 1 year of driving)
And at $12 a quart that seems reasonable.

First off, I'm not sure everyone realizes that there is standard Mobile 1, and Mobile 1 Extended Performance, (and a few other formulations).

Mobile 1 has been around since the 70's, and generally suggests that you follow your manufacturer's service schedule.

Mobile 1 Extended Performance is formated with long-life additives (extra SuperSyn) that allow the oil to be good for one year or 15K miles. They even have a guarantee, but of course, that's only for an 'oil-related failure'.

I've read a study where they ran standard Mobile 1 for 100K miles. (They had a team of college kids driving the thing ALL the time.) Everything was below average wear. and the lubrication and viscosity attributes were still good. But the oil gets dirty - which is still an issue.

I used to run with M1 every 5K, now I run M1EP every 10K. When you get older, have a house and kids, etc - and you change your own oil, every 5K is just a hard commitment to meet.
