My OEM alarm goes nuts sometimes....

I have the stock OEM keyless and alarm on my 2002 SE, and every so often when I use the trunk pop from the remote, the car freaks out..honks the horn and flashes the lights...which are HIDs, not good to flash HIDs...and occasionally my door locks sound like they are "re-locking" themselves every so often. Anyone have any ideas whats the prob??

Have you tried disarming the car first before you opened the trunk?

take it back to toyota. factory systems usually allow you to pop the trunk w/o disarming. sounds like it's malfunctioning.

of course. I thought that was my initial problem. But that wasn't, cause I always disarm it first before popping the trunk, a habit from other alarms I've had.

I actually desoldered the tactile switch from behind the red panic button on my remote because I thought that I may be inadvertently squeezing that. But that didn't fix it.

also, the door locks re-lock often.

oh well, I just disarm and use the key for the trunk nowadays, not a big inconvenience.
