gen 1 hood firewall?

gen 1 hood firewall?

the underside of my hood has a thick soundproofing firewall, but all the pictures of engine compartments I've seen in solaraguy have naked hoods. did all gen 1/1.5 come with underhood firewalls? or did all you guys remove them so you can hear the engine growl?

Yeah majority of cars will have that under the hood, too keep them quiet.
But you can rip it off.
That what i did to my dad's 98 Camry when i had it.
Did it to my friends' Dodge Stealth TT too.

Its actually there to hold the heat from killing the topside paint of your hood
If you notice older cars without the material on the underside will MOST likely have cracked/F'd up paint on the topside

Those that have CF hoods SHOULD pull it from their OEM hoods and put in under the CF hood
Retired... its been fun Image

Acura/Honda's new models have them there incase of a fire. I read up that when there is a fire in the engine bay, it acts as something like a fire blanket that may extinguish the fire.
