Belt Squeal

Belt Squeal

Hi Everyone!

Looks like everythings going well with my new Solara. Just trying to fix one problem: Belt Squeal coming from the V Belt. How to address that?

I found this on the internet: http://rav4world.com/tsb/EG040-04.pdf

Says cars with the 2AZ-FE have this squeal. I'm trying to make sure that this would address it, and find a dealer that doesn't charge $100 just to diagnose it first, and then deliver the bad news. (new york area)

Thanks!

Your belt is either loose or worn out.

how much does it usually cost to change just the vbelt at the dealer?

i really didn't have a choice but to pay up: $161 total w/tax......fixed the problem though. i'm a little peeved.

another mechanic wanted to change pulleys and things, so i'm still ahead, but wish I could've just told them to "do this."
