Hey everyone,
My car is shooting thick white smoke out the muffler every morning when the engine cranks for the first 10 seconds and then goes away. Does anyone know what this could mean? I recently passed my smog test and have no check engine light or codes showing up. I change my oil every 2,500 miles with Mobil 1 synthetic and I'm completely stock. I only have about 80,000 miles.
Please help!

i think could be just condensation. do you see white smog when you floor it hard when the engine is warm?

Usually people don't say this but smell the smoke. (not a lot) Does it smell sweet like antifreez. Also put your hand in it does it condense back into water if so then probably just moisture.

hey guys. no its not condensation i live in 90 degree weather and it always smokes each time i turn the engine on. the previous owner was an asian girl (who had mashimaru stickers all over the car.. which of course i removed). she took really good care of the exterior and interior of the car but i dont think she ever did an oil change. =( i might have sludge then... so lets say i do am i screwed? does this mean my car is going to die soon?

How many mile on it now.... and have YOU changed the OIL???

If not.... DO IT NOWWWW!!! (And ASK the REPUTABLE shop what they find in the oil.... I'd want a "SMEAR" myself...)

Anyway... the moisture scenario doesn't necessarily come from COOL weather. You COULD have a crack in the head or leaking or blown head gasket... (among other not-as-likely breaches of the cooling system into the bottom end...) Or..... you could be blowing OIL smoke... meaning piston-ring bypass... or leaky valve stem seals.... or....

Do you know a mechanic you trust?

Have it looked at.... don't get ripped off....

its probably bad exhaust valve seals. Most likely. oil will seap through while the car is sitting and then it is burned off when u start your car
