acetone to increase mpg?

acetone to increase mpg?

Postby andrew_alfonso » Sun Dec 17, 2006 1:21 pm

I had been reading articles posted at www.AddAcetone.com and greatly intrigued that "acetone in fuel is said to increase mileage...". Has anyone ever had done/tried this? There's even posts at some corollas and older toyotas that it did increase MPG, but no camrys or solaras. Is this true??? They said per 10 gal. of gas filled, 2oz. should be mixed and anything over that will actually drop the MPG. How true are these claims?

sounds like BS to me.

worse case: the acetone eats up some of your seals and ruins your engine.

Probably the most information that I found anywhere on this:

http://peswiki.com/index.php/Directory: ... l_Additive.

Closest report to one of our engines in there is a 2003 Highlander 4cyl (2AZ) that reported a gain of about 2mpg.
