Transponder Key

Transponder Key

Postby Texas Tornado » Tue Jan 02, 2007 10:59 pm

I need help with a problem in programming another Master Transponder Key. I tried all the search functions and found a lot of info., but none of it worked in my situation.

By the way; I have a 2003 SLE with (DEI) Viper 791 alarm system with the 555u By-pass module installed in my car, which is where the installer put my second master key.

I bought another key from a good seller on eBay, which is the one I am trying to program.

Thanks for any help anyone could give me.

lol think you gotta find directions for your alarm.....but since its a key you would think the same rules apply........call the installer?

guys, i think he's just trying to program another key--not bypass it so the alarm works.

if you're trying to program a 3rd key go to the dealership and tell them you also have a 2nd key in the bypass module. All 3 have to be programmed together.

no; I don't need directions for my alarm. Obviously; you didn't understand my post.

that wasn't my question either; I'm only trying to program another key, question was do you think my by-pass module is preventing me from programming another key?

Krook, you're on the money; :D do you think the DEI By-Pass module is preventing this problem? The key works in the doors and will go into the ignition but; won't start the car, and it's a Master Key with the chip. Thanks for your response.

I have the directions from the Dealer; this procedure is not working for some reason on my car.

I guess; you didn't understand my post either.

I thought this forum was to help others; :( I know I would if that time arises.
Oh well; thanks for all the responses anyway.

I think that no one really knows the answer, it' not that they don't want to help. Seems like people are trying.

ya what i was thinking was if your orginal directions from toyota dont work.....maybe you have to program it through your aftermarket alarm but it seems that a by-pass module is supposed to by-pass it....lol...

actually if you search for 555u By-pass module you should get your answer...i dont have a aftermarket alarm...but it seems that these by-pass modules are used for remote start http://www.caraudio-caralarms.com/bypass-module.html

Obiviously; i dont think you understand your alarm.

A maximum of 4 keys can be registered... I assume you're the original owner... but if not, then removing excess keys may be necessary.

Now that I think of it, the DEI module is probably doing this. Since a master key is technically always inserted due to the key's presence... remove the key from the module and it should probably work. The ECU is probably detecting that the master is still inserted and is going nuts.

As long as the key is cut to fit the ignition cylinder, I dont really think you will have to program the key. The ECU thinks that there is a key inserted at all times. Why would it care if the key really is / is not programmed to work if it already sees a key in the ignition...

omfg read my link :evilbat:

hes right, completly right.....what do you think that the by-pass module is for

the by-pass BY-PASSES the transponder in the car tricking the ecu to think that the key is always in enabling the car to start the car with remote start.

no, hold on, i have the clifford rsx 3.5 with the bypass module, but that module has the Transponder key inside it with the "key part" cut off, just the RF chip is there.

BUT if u put a key thats the exact same as my master that doesnt have the transponder, then the car will not start.

THIS is why im saying this.
